Calle Taco thoughtfully laces together Mexican and Malaysian influences in tasty tacos.
Not a gimmick, these recipes underscore the versatility of tacos as comforting creations that effortlessly evade boundaries and borders.
There's a taco for nearly everyone here.
For a rich, robust taco with deep, dark flavours, sink your teeth into the Beef Carnitas with Salsa Negra, showcasing pulled beef, stomach and tendon lusciously braised for up to six hours, succulent and sultry with smoky black garlic salsa and pickled sengkuang (RM14).
For Mexico-meets-Malacca magic that pairs a taquería and a satay stall, the Al Pastor Pineapple Satay Chicken serves up Mexican-marinated meat with Malacca-style pineapple satay sauce and pickled pineapples, a fine-tuned balance of savoury and sweet (RM11).
For zest and zip, the Prawn Kerabu with Prawn Salsa layers seared prawns with prawn noodle-inspired tomato salsa, pickled red onions and kerabu garnish (RM14).
For creamy solace, the Roasted Pumpkin Taco with Corn Masak Lemak is perfection (RM11).
Add the Kerisik 'Mole' Nachos with a dip of coffee 'gulai' and toasted coconut (RM8) to complete the Calle experience. More tacos with influences like itik pongteh and ikan bakar are expected soon.
Find Calle Taco as a pop-up, now through early September in Kampung Attap's Triptyk. Complement the tacos with Triptyk's creative cocktails like the Rattan Highball (black glutinous teak with watermelon and coconut soda, topped off with jackfruit and lotus tea leather) and Hafu (shiitake mushroom vermouth, miso tequila and Jameson seaweed bitters with smoked paprika cucumber cracker).
