Brew 9 began as a home-based cafe in Kota Kemuning in early 2020, serving breakfast, coffee and cakes to the neighbourhood. This year, it has moved to its own venue in nearby Bukit Rimau, a bright, leafy space with playful murals. Currently a work in progress, Brew 9 should be welcoming dine-in customers within weeks, but it's already offering some of the Klang Valley's best cold-brewed coffee and tea for takeouts and deliveries, as well as home-cooked meals by home chefs to help the community.
Brew 9 calls itself a cold brew specialist, and it certainly lives up to that promise.
These are beautifully nuanced beverages, brilliant to the last sip, from citrusy 20-hour-steeped, unsweetened Colombian and Ethiopian coffee to the tea-and-kombucha-evoking, plum-and-prune-channelling cascara (from Melbourne's Market Lane, made from pulped coffee cherry skin) and four-hour-steeped Uji matcha and hojicha with lemon and coconut twists respectively.
Meals are also attractive - menu highlights span Malaysian classics like nasi lemak and lei cha, plus fun fare like coffee-infused pasta and sea salt kaya butter toast, along with loaves, pastries and desserts like key lime pie.
