If you live or work in PJ and plan to eat only one burger this week, make it Grit's wagyu beef burger, crafted with the cafe's own-blended patty, cooked to medium perfection to retain its full juicy-meaty textures, made extra-robust with smoked cheese, rounded out in a fluffy-rich brioche bun (RM35 with the works). An exemplary diner-style burger that's tasty from top to bottom.
That no-nonsense, what-you-want-is-what-you-get perspective seems to extend to Grit's entire menu. Sous vide pork belly is sliced into thick, sumptuous chunks, soy-and-sesame glazed to be punchy but not cloying, served over Japanese rice with a fried egg for a sweetly umami-rich bowl that's as crowd-pleasing as they come (RM25).
Grilled cheese lovers can bookmark Grit's, layered with melted mozzarella, cheddar and smoked cheese, crisp and toasty to the bite, creamy and savoury to the chew. What makes this noteworthy is the sandwich's pairing with herb-brightened tomato soup, also Grit's own, with a buoyant balance of tang, not sourness (RM20).
