Traditional Chinese banquet in style
Eight treasures duck |
Chinese banquet is all about feasting, when family or old friends getting together to have a long-lasting dinner, usually with at least 10 courses of dishes to ensure a memorable evening. I have yet to have a proper Chinese banquet experience in the UK, as it usually contains difficult dishes from a technique's point of view and required long hours of preparation. However, if one UK Chinese restaurant can pull it off, it has to be Park Chinois. The luxury fine dining Chinese restaurant has fast become my personal favorite of mine, thanks to its uses of top-grade ingredients with a team of top chefs. For my sixth time at Park Chinois, I opted for a banquet style menu, prepared specially by the kitchen.

One of the first dishes to arrive was the diver scallop, it came with a masterfully blended soy sauce that loaded with so much umami taste, the scallop was sweet, and the scallop roe added a lovely creamy texture and an extra touch of richness. It was my first time trying the infamous eight treasure duck, a classic Chinese dish that required long hours of preparation. It was stunning, it was stuffed with multi-layers of wonderful texture, from the dried sausages, nuts to the lotus seeds. Everything worked in harmony, bold taste, tender meat, perfect seasoning, it was "duck" to perfection. Another amazing dish was the stir fry wagyu ribeye, the meat was just so moist, the use of spices and shallots really lifted the savoury taste of the beef, it was an outstanding beef dish.

The special banquet was magical, besides great taste, some of the dishes also offered eye-opening presentation, things that you would not see elsewhere in other Chinese restaurants in London. What can I say, the food was simply wonderful, visually striking, mouthwatering aroma and sensational taste, this is what top Chinese cooking is all about. The service on the evening was also a lot better than my past visits, our waiter had great hospitality charm and always engage with a big smile. I really don't understand why this place hasn't got a Michelin star as it is, without doubt, the best Chinese restaurant in London.
