Pour Cafe is a bit off the beaten track, but its signature sambal pasta might be worth the trek, saturated with a santan-scented sauce, sprinkled with crushed ikan bilis and peanuts, surrounded by fried chicken, a sunny-side-up, cucumbers, and best of all, a house-made sambal that's a genuine surprise, beautiful textured and nuanced (RM20). We've seen many, many Malaysian reinterpretations of pasta in recent times, but this is one of the handful that works very well.
The kitchen shows a few flashes of playfulness for its all-day brunches too - the scrambled eggs are satisfyingly soft and creamy, though they would benefit from more seasoning beyond chillies, partnered in a simple fashion with toast and a thick hash brown (RM14). The soft-shell crab muffin is reasonably interesting, layered with a fried egg and bolstered by buttermilk sauce with tomato salsa (23).
Pour Cafe's signature coffee concoction is a refreshingly sprightly beverage, well-balanced with ginger, agave syrup and a bit of tang from an orange peel (RM14). All in all, if you're in Ampang, and you enjoy bright, spacious cafes, put Pour on your to-visit list.
