Thirty years after first setting up what became a chicken rice stall in Pudu, the founders of Fatt Kee now finally have a family-run shop to call their own, bringing their beloved roast meats to Cheras.
For the ideal introduction to Fatt Kee, order the special Four-in-One Combo, featuring time-honoured roast duck, roast chicken, crunchy siu yok and crisp-edged char siew with chicken rice (RM16.80). It took a generation to perfect this, and it's encouraging to believe that another generation will continue to enjoy this. Simple, fuss-free satisfaction from start to finish.
The kitchen also offers a reasonable range of soups and Hakka specialities. The pork tail soup, loaded with peanuts, is soulful and fairly priced for RM7, while the pork knuckles with black vinegar might fondly evoke home-cooked meals for many (RM15). No wonder this new restaurant remains bustling long after lunchtime on a weekday.
