Rumah Hijau Cafe @ Kota Damansara

From Kuching to Kota Damansara: Sarawak's Rumah Hijau Cafe has opened its first outpost in the Klang Valley, spotlighting state specialities like nasi uruk, a variation of fried rice that's less oily and a little more garlicky - it's usually served here with ikan kembung, but swap the fish for ikan terubuk masin instead for a fully Sarawakian platter (beware of bones though). The platter costs a reasonable RM12, making for a worthwhile lunch in a setting that's suitably greenly decorated.

Prawn-topped Sarawak laksa (RM12) and beef-laced mee kolok (RM10) are available too, acceptable if you work in Kota Damansara and have a hankering for these dishes. Rumah Hijau claims to bring many of its key ingredients from Sarawak, such as the laksa paste, so an approximation of authenticity can be expected. Wrap up your visit with sago gula apong (RM5).
