Chuck Two Sons @ Mid Valley

Reputedly run by two brothers in tribute to the recipes of three generations of family & friends, Chuck Two Sons (the name is a reference to their father's nickname) christens itself a "Malaysian bistro," with strong northern Nyonya accents. The venue features a raft of familiar favourites, from sotong sambal petai to kam heong prawns, but it may hold a special allure for pork enthusiasts - the mee goreng with siu yok (RM22) conveys a satisfyingly smoky aroma, sufficient for a single-plate meal, while the nasi lemak 'mountain' (RM25) channels the flavours of home cooking with tau yew bak, pork kapitan & mutton rendang.

Laksa lovers might be lured by multiple temptations - the crab laksa (RM25) supplies hot, savoury comfort for rainy nights, while the Siamese laksa (RM15) strikes piquantly mellow notes. You'll also find Penang assam laksa (RM15) & Nyonya laksa that's served with pork or chicken kapitan (RM19 each). Several wines are available, with a red starting at RM150 per bottle.
