Colombian coffee and Venezuelan and Malaysian chocolate come together in Bukit Ceylon’s Miss Coco, one of 2024’s most distinctive new cafes, pioneered by a passionate team of Colombian, Venezuelan and Malaysian founders.
Miss Coco is now open everyday, 8am-8pm, at Wisma Noble Land, for a pleasurable pairing of South America and Southeast Asia.
Bars and bonbons banish cacao cravings: Savour Venezuelan cocoa bean chocolate bars made in Malaysia with lively fruity subtleties or earthily nutty nuances, complemented by colourful Malaysian chocolate bonbons tinged with the tropical tang of soursop or pineapple.
Hot chocolate beverages are whisked to order for a smooth, well-mixed consistency to convey the flavour and fragrance of the chocolate.
Fun fact: One of Miss Coco’s founders had always wanted to be a chocolate maker, but her parents coaxed her to choose a more reputable career path by studying law.
Miss Coco teems with thoughtful touches. Its hibiscus-loving pillar mural marries the cultural and culinary diversity of Malaysia, Colombia and Venezuela. Its Colombian-inspired counter embodies Bogotá’s tradition of bricks, while the packaging for its Venezuelan chocolate bars, under the Alba Chocolatier brand, evokes the floor of Caracas’ international airport.
Miss Coco meticulously roasts its own Colombian-cultivated coffee - sourced from nano-lots - with a massive U.S.-built Loring stainless steel roaster. Some of the cafe’s tables are repurposed from the cargo box that the roaster was shipped in. Espresso-based 36-hour-fermented and filter options are all offered.
Also sip on Miss Coco’s cocoa husk kombucha, not too sweet, in line with one of the cafe founders’ intolerance of high sugar, while Colombian singer Fonseca croons on the cafe’s speakers.
Arepas and other Venezuelan, Colombian and Malaysian hot fare should be available later this month.
