Now nearing a full decade in service, Naughty Babe Dirty Duck has matured into KL's prime purveyor of pork pleasures from around the globe.
Serving Spanish, Japanese and Hungarian breeds of pork in preparations that take inspiration from Italy, Germany and more, Naughty Babe Dirty Duck is a delectable destination for finger-licking ribs, lip-smacking knuckles, mouthwatering cold cuts, plus platters of pork chops, shoulders and T-bones.
Naughty Babe Dirty Duck continues to thrive in its original Desa Sri Hartamas outlet, but it has also opened up in Desa ParkCity and most recently, Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
We visited its vibrant venue at The Waterfront in Desa ParkCity for the first time recently, a lush, spacious setting for a full-bodied feast with family and friends - come hungry to placate your carnivorous cravings!
Every branch of Naughty Babe Dirty Duck boasts its own distinctive identity and character, from the industrial edge in Hartamas to the polished sleekness in Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
Our personal favourite is NBDD in Desa ParkCity - its cool, shaded alfresco area is surrounded by plenty of plants and greenery, for a soothing sanctuary away from the busy city. Rattan chairs and wooden furniture embrace the sense of tropical nature.
Inside is impressive too, with a soaring ceiling, an intimate mezzanine level, and plenty of playful pig and duck figurines that enhance the restaurant's special charm.
NBDD's top temptations are crafted for sharing. The signature Cheese & Spanish Cold Cuts Platter (RM68) is loaded with well-curated treats, worthy of a wonderful tapas bar.
The board spans Spanish chorizo sausage and Jamón Serrano ham, aromatically earthy-savoury in their traditional cured flavour, rounded out with Spanish truffle manchego, brie and blue cheese for a robust cheese combination, buoyed by crackers, mixed fruits, olives, pickles, nuts, flowers and herbs for a captivatingly colourful medley.
This is one of KL's loveliest charcuterie platters, tasting as terrific as it looks!
For meaty, mighty mains, our best bet might be the Kurobuta Pork Chop (RM68).
This harnesses the Japanese heritage black breed of Berkshire pure-bred pork, beloved for its maximum marbling. The result is a juicy joy, constantly succulent to the chew.
We love NBDD's sous vide Kurobuta pork chop, generously portioned to sink our teeth into. It comes complete in a thoughtful recipe, paired with pineapple jam and pork gravy reduction to punch up its kick, plus burnt cabbage for a smoky, fibre-packed companion.
Also grilled to perfection is NBDD's Mangalica T-Bone (RM88) - this Hungarian-origin breed is known for its high nutritional value, brimming especially with Omega-3 fatty acids.
The thick-and-chunky Mangalica T-bone is perfect for patrons who prefer pork with deep, resonant flavours that remain clean-tasting, brightened nicely with lively fresh red apple sauce and lime, bringing together meat and fruits in wholesome harmony.
Whether it's your first or fiftieth time at NBDD, ribs are always a must - we're happy to gnaw each rib to the bone, since they're absolutely addictive!
Our recommendation is the Oven Roasted Iberico Spare Ribs (half slab RM98, full slab RM188), embodying the excellence of Spanish iberico pork in its peerlessly fleshy-fatty glory.
These are delightfully decadent ribs for discerning cavemen and cavewomen, expertly oven-roasted for peak tenderness, marinated with NBDD's secret blend of fragrant herbs to uplift their luxurious flavour, partnered with a pineapple salad for zesty balance.
The NBDD BBQ Pork Ribs (half slab RM48, full slab RM88) are the fuss-free crowd-pleaser, popular since Naughty Babe Dirty Duck's birth in 2014.
Sausage enthusiasts, bookmark NBDD for its array of attractions, which can be ordered separately or together in the Porky Sausage Platter (RM88) - these plump, lengthy European-style sausages represent a superb sampler of Hungarian, German pepper, Cumberland and footlong Schublig sausages, delicately spiced, served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. If you're considering a sausage feast for Oktoberfest, check this out!
Beyond pork, NBDD also caters to fans of other proteins - from smooth, slick Spanish Anchovies (RM36; bathed in garlic, parsley, olives and extra virgin olive oil) to salmon, calamari, octopus and river prawns, tamarind-glazed chicken to lamb rack and Angus rib eye steaks, there's lots of other meat and seafood to savour here.
Pair your meal with the House Red Wine (a reasonable RM29 by the glass), classic cocktails like Sex on the Beach (RM35; vodka with peach schnapps, cranberry juice and fresh orange) and other quenching alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
