In the morning light, as the city stirs to life, Chinatown’s beautiful new Sekalf beckons for breakfast before work.

This is a warm, welcoming two-level cafe on Tun H.S. Lee Road, serving crowd-pleasers with cross-border twists - rendang rigatoni, pasembur with prawn cakes, ngau fan-inspired donburi.

Creamy mud crab scrambled eggs with a crisp croissant and Thai massaman curry aioli make a playful pairing with the blue matcha, coloured with blueberry puree. Middle Eastern zaatar-spiced chicken leg promises sultry succulence, enlivened with Peruvian aji verde herb sauce.

Fun fact: Sekalf is the sister cafe of Flakes in The Hub, SS2 - it's Flakes spelled backwards.
