The facade is familiar, while some faces seem the same, but Harper Comfort Food heralds a new hope in Hartamas - it replaces Tray Cafe, which endured for a decade in Plaza Damas.
Run by two sisters, Harper preserves Tray's tradition of cooking that nourishes and nurtures; breakfast begins with masala-spiced, coriander-sprinkled scrambled kampung eggs with bread and butter (RM19) and savoury French toast with chicken sausage and chilli jam (RM26). Other features haven't changed - a menu board promises hearty-sounding specials for lunch, while the counter beckons with irresistible bakes.
Fun fact: Harper is what one of this cafe's co-founders - who has three sons - might have named her daughter.
