Egg-citing times: Singapore's Tamago-EN has launched its first Malaysian cafe in The Gardens Mall, serving Japanese-inspired specialities that spotlight eggs, eggs and extra eggs.
Creamy-yolked signatures include Tamago-EN's take on Tamago Kake Gohan (TKG), captivatingly crowned with a fuwa-fuwa egg, its white whipped into a fluffy meringue-like cloud, rounded out with toppings like unagi for a frothy rice bowl (RM31.90).
The Cheese Mentaiko Hashimaki is also a Tamago-EN must - sticks of rolled okonomiyaki pancakes layered with cheese, cod roe, and the sunniest, runniest egg (RM9.50 each) for an irresistible guilty indulgence.
The Dashiki Tamago Skewers are another a familiar favourite by this brand - the cafe's namesake Japanese omelette with five different toppings: tomato, seaweed, salmon, mental mayo, and kani mayo, served soft, warm and flavoursome (RM18.90).
Other options range from the Omurice, including the 'tornado omelette' butter rice with salmon fillet and cod roe cream sauce (RM28.50, with a soup of the day), to hot, thick and crispy Chicken Katsu Sando, with fried egg of course, in toasted white bread with furikake fries (RM24.50). Smooth, caramel-lined egg pudding makes for a soothing dessert (RM9.50).
