Abou El Sid, Egypt

One of Cairo's most entrancingly atmospheric restaurants, transporting customers to a colourfully sultry, shadow-swathed cavern of mystery and mystique. 

The food feels like a throwback to another time too - fattah meat and rice with crispy bread and garlicky tomato gravy, molokheya leaves with rabbit, and creamy tagine-cooked muammar rice with kidneys.
