Dreamy and creamy-hued, this double-storey residence-turned-cafe offers a beautiful new retreat in the city centre for coffee and cakes, brunch and bakes - a fresh face on a street with a history of terraced houses that reputedly stretches back to the 1920s.
With serene corners to explore, Three Years Old is a labour of love by three friends, Joyce, Jane and Liz; the cafe's name points to their philosophy of preserving a young-at-heart perspective on life, looking at the world with childlike wonder.
If every salad were as tantalisingly tasty as Three Years Old's Pumpkin Patch - charred pumpkin chunks with pumpkin seeds, pomegranate, sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese in citrus miso dressing (RM20; add for RM3 for a soy egg) - we'd all enjoy eating wholesome much more often.
You can't give up carbs here though - if the Smashed Avo doesn't get you (RM22), the Sourdough Toast with Three Years Old's house-made 'umami butter' and berry compote might (RM10).
And with a counter filled with the kitchen's own-baked sweet treats, from calamansi cakes to frangipane tarts, temptation is just a few steps away from the table. Thankfully, Three Years Old's piccolo latte with oat milk is an excellent accompaniment.
