If you're craving pork that pays homage to old-school Cantonese charcoal roasting, order the char siu and siu yok from Han Kee, a stall in Kampung Cheras Baru that's named for its founder's grandfather.
The char siu boasts a beautiful barbecued bite, cooked in a covered oven for 1.5 hours to seal in its savoury-sweet seasoning, subtly sticky and succulent to the chew. Perfect for a meat lover's delivery.
The siu yok conveys a sense of honest-to-goodness, time-honoured tradition too, complete with crisp crackling to complement the clean-tasting, tender meat. Prices are superb, with even a mixed single portion of siu yok and char siu costing only RM6.50.
Roast chicken is also available; a whole chicken clocks in at just RM35. Individual servings with chicken rice are also available, as are special requests for deliveries: Half a plate of liver cost us RM2, perhaps the most satisfying RM2 we've spent this year.
Lot 1, Jalan 22, Kampung Cheras Baru, 56100 Kuala Lumpur. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 830am-2pm. Tel: 012-317-5925
