One of our few dine-in dinners this year was at Bangsar's new diner, WURST, which offers distinctively hearty, soulful dishes like the signature Wagyu Bone Marrow Sandwich (RM35), a melty-buttery must for marrow lovers, roasted in the bone and slathered with mushrooms on toast. One plate might be too rich for one person, so be sure to share.
WURST's fare is now available for takeouts and deliveries - if the restaurant's name sounds familiar, WURST relocated to Bangsar's Lucky Garden from its previous home in Bukit Bintang's MOV Hotel, revamping its menu into a wider, more varied selection of specialities.
Beef is a big deal at WURST - the Angus Beef Cheek Patties (RM25) are pure pleasure, tender and textured, splashed with brown gravy and showered with pickles; with patties this perfect, no buns are needed. We'd like to try the BBQ Beef Brisket and Wagyu Trimmings with Fried Rice next time.
Cooked-from-scratch sensibilities carry the menu from start to finish, from truffled chicken broth baked with puff pastry that takes 15 minutes to prepare from order (RM20) to the elaborate #loggytime (named for chef-founder Logan Terence Lopez), the sole dessert on the menu, a swoon-worthy ensemble of dark and white chocolate gelato with house-made honeycomb, salted sugar, chocolate brioche, bitter cocoa crumbs and chocolate ganache (RM20).
Come here hungry - Jamaican-inspired jerk chicken, sausage paella, salmon Wellington and more beckon.
