Er Lou Cafe, Petaling Jaya

Sarawak laksa with a sprinkling of grated cheese? In any other restaurant, this might be a gimmicky novelty, but we can trust Er Lou Cafe's Kuching-born founder Jasmine to do justice to her home state's heritage. The cheese adds a mild milkiness to this mellow bowl that's made extra-notable with Er Lou's house-rolled smooth noodles, available in a choice of thin or thick strands (RM18.90).

Sarawak cuisine also comes to the fore in noodles fried with generous portions of cangkuk manis vegetables, with a spinach-like flavour and tender, leafy texture (RM12.90) - very tasty vegetarian-friendly noodles that we'd happily enjoy again, downed with lemongrass or lime cucumber beverages.

Er Lou (Second Floor) Cafe
7A, Second Floor, Jalan 17/45, Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya. Open Mon-Fri, 10am-10pm; Sat-Sun, 9am-10pm
