A cafe that specialises in pineapple tarts, with inspirations from both Mom and Taiwan? Count us in: Baker Dave pays homage to his mother's recipe, which he recalls helping to meticulously prepare at the age of nine, now transformed at his eatery into Taiwanese-influenced square-shaped pineapple shortcakes.
The pineapple jam filling is the fabulous highlight, sumptuously fresh in texture, beautifully balancing the fruit's sweetness and tang - thankfully, there's plenty stuffed within the crumbly pastry. Two pieces start at RM7; each is sizable enough for a solo snack.
The pineapple jam can also intriguingly be served in kopitiam-style toast, though its presence tastes much less pronounced between the bread.
