Start the Year of the Rat on an auspicious note with an exceptional dining experience at Evolution Café, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Led by Executive Chef Edmund Ng and Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin, the restaurant’s Master Chefs have specially curated three decadent 9-course set menus as well as a Chinese New Year buffet spread which seamlessly blends traditional flavours with modern sophistication for a timeless reunion dinner.
For intimate gatherings, diners may opt for one of three luxurious 9-course set menus that symbolizes happiness, prosperity and longevity. The set menus are priced from RM1,888 nett for a table of 10 persons and are available from 5th January 2020 until 8th February 2020 (5 days advance booking required).
We sampled the Prosperity Menu (RM2,088 nett for a table of 10 persons), starting with the customary yee sang, also known as "lo hei". The Fortune Yee Sang with fresh salmon comes with refreshing ingredients such as shredded white turnip, carrots, yam, pickled ginger, pomelo and homemade plum sauce.
Next, we had the Bountiful wealth combination platter featuring Seafood money bag, Four treasure roll with smoked duck, Fatt Choy dumpling, Steamed stuffed fish maw, and Golden beard giant prawns.
Who can resist a bowl of hot, warming soup? Absolutely loved the Braised eight treasure soup with sliced abalone, chock-full of delicious sea treasures such as scallop, sea cucumber, prawns and more.
When the Baked butter tiger prawn dish arrived, it smelt amazing! The baked prawns, which represent laughter, were accompanied by crispy prawn rolls with melting, oozy cheese.

Fish is a must-have during Chinese New Year as its homonym represents abundance. The grouper was steamed with onion, chili and ginger puree - simple and good!
The Sun-dried oysters, flower mushroom, hon shimeji, dried scallop and Hong Kong kailan is another auspicious dish, representing happiness (oysters), longevity (mushroom) and new horizons (scallop).

Finally, for dessert, we were served the Double-boiled sea coconut with lotus seed and white fungus along with New Year’s fancy duet of Nian Gao and Chinese pancake.
