The hottest name on the cafe scene right now is Tapestry KL. Located on the historic Jalan Kamunting, Tapestry is a new event venue by Wy & Co which houses several dining concepts.
Rise & Shine by Tapestry is the first dining concept to be launched, featuring classic brunch dishes injected with Malaysian twists, made using locally sourced produce, whenever possible. At the venue, you can also enjoy a perfect cuppa from Eight Ounce Coffee.
Getting its name from the various tapestries adorning the sunroof, there is so much to love about this place - the modern, Instaworthy interior, with its indoor garden, high ceilings, and ample natural lighting illuminating the venue.
Start your day, nice and bright, with Rise & Shine Eggs Benedict (RM29). Two poached eggs sit atop crisp, golden bubble & squeak (a traditional British dish made with boiled potatoes and cabbage), and served with beetroot cured salmon and bunga kantan hollandaise. Cut into the egg to reveal a beautifully runny centre.. absolute perfection!
Inspired by the Malaysian kopitiam breakfast of kopi, eggs and toast, The Hainan (RM22) is Rise & Shine's unique take on the Malaysian favourite.
Soft, fluffy scrambled free range kampung eggs is drizzled with a touch of espresso glaze and is presented with charred heirloom tomatoes, toasted Hainanese soldiers and a delicious pumpkin kaya on the side. By using pumpkin, which has a lovely natural sweetness, they can effectively cut down the amount of sugar used in making the kaya. Ingenious! For an extra sinful breakfast, you can also add on the sticky, sweet Sarsi-glazed beef bacon (RM15), which tastes very much like bak kwa (Chinese meat jerky).
The Pancakes (RM26) or French toast (RM26) would certainly get your day started on a sweet note. They're both served with fresh berries, mixed berry compote, chocolate soil and a gula melaka syrup infused with Earl Grey. I especially loved the French toast, which is made using hot cross bun... so sinful. If our kids were here, we know they would totally dig these!
For those who want something more substantial, Rise & Shine offers a lunch menu from 11.45am, with items such as fish and chips, bangers and squeak, salt beef burger, linguine and fried chicken. We had the Grilled chicken with Beras Sia from Sarawak and charred cauliflower (RM30) which is their version of a healthy chicken rice. Pickled green chillies and mustard are served as condiments. The charred cauliflower is also sprinkled with ulam and bunga kantan herb spice, for an extra Malaysian touch.
Notch up your healthy eating with one of the smoothie bowls - we had the Horchata smoothie (RM22) which featured a banana and pineapple smoothie with almond butter, topped with sliced strawberries, blueberries, toasted Hawaiian coconut, granola, pomegranate, and chia seeds. Not only is it pretty, it's tasty and good for you too!
Coffee lovers would appreciate the passionately-brewed coffee by Eight Ounce Coffee here. Other than hot coffee, they also offer Nitro cold brew, artisanal hot chocolate, matcha latte and juices.
Hot cappuccino (RM13)
Hot matcha latte (RM13)
