La Bodega has been bringing a taste of Spain to KL-ites since its inception in 1999. Known as Kuala Lumpur’s first authentic Spanish Tapas & Wine Bar, the menu features a delicious variety of traditional and contemporary tapas and other Spanish delights alongside an extensive selection of exclusive wines handpicked from the wineries of Spain, France, Argentina and Chile.
Spanish food is definitely made for sharing, so come with a group of friends and order a feast! Start with a jug of sangria, and complement it with the Plato de Entremeses (RM56), which showcases a fantastic range of imported cold cuts such as cecina, turkey ham, duck ham and turkey chorizo along with mixed olives, piparras, Spanish potato salad and Manchego cheese, served with membrillo, water crackers and pan con tomate. A superb sharing platter - well-put together and very enjoyable indeed.
The Trio de Pates (RM30) is another great appetizer for sharing, with black olive, tomato and chicken liver pate. I particularly liked the combination of chicken and tomato pate on the lightly toasted French bread.
For a sweet end to your meal, enjoy the classic dessert, Crema Catalana (RM22), smooth, creamy custard with a hint of orange or the Turron de Jijona y Dulce de Membrillo (RM24), almond nougat with quince paste and vanilla ice cream.

La Bodega offers over 30 types of tapas, with classics such as Gambas Al Ajillo, Tortilla Espanola, and Croquetas con Trufa. My personal favorite was the Gambas Al Ajillo (RM47), with incredibly large and fresh tiger prawns, sauteed in garlic, olive oil and chilli. Loved dipping the bread into the garlicky oil - so delicious!
Tortilla Espanola (RM17) - traditional Spanish omelette with potatoes and onions.
Croquetas con Trufa (RM37) - truffle and mushroom croquettes with lemon aioli and pesto.
I also enjoyed the Champinones Al Ajillo (RM19), button mushrooms sauteed in a velvety, buttery sauce with garlic and parsley.
For meat lovers, try the Solomillo Al Quaso Azul (RM46), grilled beef tenderloin with Spanish blue cheese sauce or the Albondigas Sant Climent (RM27), juicy lamb meatballs in a rich brandy sauce.
Paella is a must-have when you visit a Spanish restaurant. Served in a traditional paella pan, there are 4 versions here to choose from. The Arroz Negro con Calamares y Gambas con Aioli (RM40 for 1 pax) was recommended to us - Spanish rice is cooked with squid ink, saffron, squid and tiger prawns.
Did you know that La Bodega serves breakfast too? The Pavilion outlet opens daily from 8am onwards. You can get Big breakfast, omelettes, egg benedict and more, served until 3pm daily. New on the menu is the Smashed avocado on sourdough (RM14) with crumbled feta, for those who want a healthy, wholesome start to their day. You can also opt to add-on smoked salmon and fried egg.
For something a little more Spanish, go for the Migas (RM25), a traditional Spanish breakfast comprising of turkey and chicken chorizo, beef bacon, croutons, garlic and olive oil with two poached eggs.
