Scampering into KL's burger scene, the family-run Burgerlari promises a unique homegrown perspective to its menu - every burger here races through unmistakably Malaysian inspirations, from satay burgers to rendang burgers, Hainanese chicken chop burgers to butter chicken burgers, nasi lemak burgers to chicken rice burgers.

Purely chicken burgers are offered here, showcasing strictly thigh meat for tender cuts, some batter-fried and others grilled.

For folks who prefer a crunchy bite, try the Hainanese chicken chop burger or the butter chicken burger that comes complete with curry leaves, each sauced up to ensure a balanced chew with mild-and-mellow, sweet-savoury flavours.

Our favourite of the three we tried is the chicken rice burger, which successfully reflects the original recipe even without rice, primarily thanks to a sauce that's rich with ginger-garlic nuances and the textured chilli sauce that generations of chicken rice lovers would instantly recognise.

At RM12.50 per burger, these are worth munching on if you're seeking something playful in Cheras. Add RM3 to turn each of them into a set with chips and a beverage.
