Griffin, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

By EDKL Writer A.A.

Ten points to Griffin for serving Bunny Chow, the South African street-food staple. Credited to ethnic Indian migrants who created the recipe in the 1940s, there's no rabbit in this meal - instead, it's a thick loaf of bread, hollowed out and stuffed with meaty curry (RM32.90 for a choice of mutton or chicken here).

Griffin's version might be more the stuff of legend if it had remained truer to its Durban roots, with softer, fluffier bread that soaks up the robust curry more effectively; still, it's a hearty platter of carbs and protein, ensuring you won't exit this friendly restaurant hungry.

You shouldn't leave thirsty either, thanks to the Laka-Laka (RM35), a tropical-themed cocktail of double gin with an unmistakable coconut blend to pair with the Bunny Chow.
