Bakso for the belly, soto for the soul: Baksoto, Great Eastern Mall’s newest eatery, specialises in two of Indonesia’s most beloved street-food classics, doing delicious justice to a time-honoured culinary heritage that stretches from the stalls of Sumatra to the waroengs of Sulawesi.
The bakso comes brimming with tenderly flavoursome beef balls, their bovine richness deepened by fresh morsels of beef in an aromatically soothing, slow-boiled beef broth, curled up with egg noodles for a bowl that’s both hearty and heart-warming.
The soto is equally enjoyable, with a mix of glass noodles and nasi impit immersed in a harmoniously spiced soup that speaks of galangal, ginger and turmeric, completed with marinated shredded chicken, crispy shallots and a house-made chilli paste.
For only RM8.90 each, the bakso and soto would be worthwhile orders for fans of Southeast Asian cuisine, hitting all the right notes for a fuss-free but fulfilling meal.
