Pigging out at Piccolino, Taman Desa's new hub for hog-loving Italian fare: Nearly two-thirds of the menu here is all about the oink, with the zampone ranking as the most interesting item - a Modena classic of boiled pork trotter, stuffed with pork fat and skin, served with lentils for folks who favour rustic cooking (RM26.90).
The rest of Piccolino's repertoire, overseen by Sardinia-born chef Paolo Pala, promises crowd-pleasers. Linguine carbonara is cooked with a light touch, mixed with egg yolk, pork belly, bacon and only a little cream, luckily (RM19.90), while the salami picante pizza is thinly topped with slices of the restaurant's own cured pork that packs a reasonably savoury punch (RM27.90).
