Fostering the familiar favourites of both Peranakan and Malay cooking, Alibaba & Nyonya is cheerful and crowd-pleasing. The chicken pongteh is a surprising standout, with a resonant flavour that does justice to the beloved classic (RM21.90). All in all, the recipes taste fresh and nuanced, characterised by other capably executed offerings like the assam pedas stingray (RM35), belacan-spiked kerabu pucuk paku (RM14.50) and nasi ulam (RM6.50). Not a bad bet for lunch in this neighbourhood.
