On a busy street of Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Taste Gallery is a kopitiam that serves a wide range of Western and Asian food, boasting a sizable beverage selection as well.
The Soft-Shell Crab Pasta with White Cream (RM19.90) was our first order. The pasta was prepared al dente, going down very smoothly. The soft-shell crab was a delight, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite. The sauce was thick and slightly tangy.
Taste Gallery’s Barbecue Smoked Duck Breast (RM21.90) is served with both mashed potatoes and fries. The sliced duck was fairly juicy, with a subtle smokiness. The mash was mild-flavoured, contrasting with the crispy, relatively saltier fries. This is the kind of dish that’s easy to share with friends.
Ocean's Baked Rice in Cream Sauce (RM19.90) arrived piping-hot, with cheese oozing on top. Each spoonful you take will be savoury, complemented by firm seafood and a fresh salad.
Our final dish was the Creamy Butter Chicken Rice (RM10.90). The breaded chicken came in tender bites that you slather with butter sauce. The omelette was thin and light, blending nicely with the rice. The vegetables were once again fresh, though a little heavy on the dressing.
As for drinks, we started with a Mango Green Tea with Aloe Vera (RM6.90), which was very cooling, with a slightly sweet aftertaste.
The Watermelon Longan (Small RM5.90/Large RM7.90) was ultra-refreshing. We took big gulps of this very cooling drink; it was the perfect thing for an exceptionally hot day.
Finally, the Pearl Caramel Milk Tea (RM5.90) is exactly what it sounds like. Down the milk tea and you’ll taste the hint of caramel, complemented by chewy pearls that will take awhile to get through.

P.S. As big burger fans, we also wanted to try one of their burgers, but by the time we arrived at 2pm, they were out of their charcoal burger buns for the day. If you want one, come earlier … like, before the lunch crowd.
